Join us for a webinar presenting essential information for providers pertaining to opioid management.

This learning activity is based on the most current guidelines and tools available when prescribing opioids for pain and opioid use disorder. A resource toolkit will be will also be available to download for future use in your practice setting. 

Specific learning objectives for this activity include: 

  • Review opioids and their role in analgesia 
  • Identify current trends pertaining to the opioid crisis 
  • Identify and discuss current best practices in opioid management  
  • Describe current tools and resources available for guiding opioid prescribing and management 
  • Recognize how legislation impacts policy and practice guidelines pertaining to opioid management 
 

About the facilitators

Alison Tagliaferro, RN-BSN, DNP Candidate

Since becoming a nurse in 2014, Alison has been caring for patients in the hospital setting while working in the medical-surgical and endoscopy units. She served as a preceptor for newly graduated nurses and was passionate about leading efforts in quality improvement and process innovation. During her career as a nurse, Alison witnessed the devastating effects the opioid epidemic has on patients and communities. Now entering into a primary care role, she is committed to improving patient education and implementing evidence-based strategies to reduce overdose deaths and increase access to care for patients with opioid use disorder. Alison served as a co-facilitator for the University of Florida’s 2022 Interdisciplinary Opioid Training Session.

Lisa Domenico, PhD, RN, CARN

Lisa Domenico PhD, RN, CARN, currently serves as President-Elect for IntNSA USA and President of IntNSA Florida. She holds a PhD through the University of Michigan, College of Nursing with a focus on social cognition and substance use disorders; and is a former NIDA postdoctoral fellow with advanced training in neurocognitive functioning, neuroimaging and substance use disorders (co-sponsored through University of Florida, Departments of Epidemiology and Psychology). Dr. Domenico currently holds an Ast. Professor position with the University of Florida, Biobehavioral Nursing Science Department.
