Dr. Jason A. Gregg graduated with a clinical practice doctorate from the University of Kentucky and holds national certifications as both a Family and Lifespan Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). He is currently an Assistant Professor and Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing (UC CON) for more than a decade. Clinically, he has practiced for almost 2 decades with St. Elizabeth Physicians Group in both outpatient and inpatient settings focusing a lot of his efforts on management of Substance Use Disorders (SUD).
In regards to scholarship, Dr. Gregg has made numerous contributions to the field of addiction. He has more than 15 manuscript publications in peer-reviewed journals with most articles covering topics of interest to the addiction stakeholder community. In addition, he has more than thirty podium presentations on addiction topics at a variety of levels from local to international. One of these presentations included testimony on behalf of the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Midwives before the Kentucky state legislature which helped eliminate the Collaborative Practice Agreement requirement in the state of Kentucky fostering increased access to care. Other academic contributions to the addiction field associated with the UC CON include: Durr Foundation Opioid Addiction Stakeholder Group; Nursing Student Substance Abuse Policy Taskforce; Opioid Curriculum Task Force involved with curricular mapping of material to Advanced Practice Nursing student courses; DNP Capstone Committee Chair for numerous projects; and HRSA Opioid Workforce Grant team member. In addition, other clinical scholarship and service activities include: served as an item writer for the American Nurses Credentialing Center PMHNP certification exam offering numerous questions on SUD; provided feedback to the ASAM draft on clinical practice guidelines for benzodiazepine tapering; and serving as a clinical mentor for the first VA Residency Faculty Advisory Committee in the country. Dr. Gregg holds a number of awards including honor society memberships in Sigma Theta Tau, International- Beta Iota Chapter and Phi Kappa Phi. In addition, he has received service awards from both the Kentucky Senate and House of Representatives including being named a Kentucky Colonel. |
