Teresa Tate is the owner of Anchor Medical Family Practice in Beaver West Virginia and a Fellow of the International Nurses Society on Addictions. Mrs. Tate graduated from Mountain State University in Beckley, WV with a BSN in 1995. She earned her master’s degree in Nursing from West Virginia University in 2003 and obtained her ANCC board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In 2009 she began working with patients suffering from substance use disorder (SUD). She opened Anchor Medical in April of 2014 with the express intent of continuing to help those with SUD while managing their primary care needs. Mrs. Tate became a Certified Addiction’s Registered Nurse – Advanced Practice (CARN-AP) in 2016 and completed the DATA Waiver training and obtained her XDEA number in April of 2017.

Early in 2019, Mrs. Tate initiated a telehealth program in WV to address barriers to effective treatment, such as transportation issues, by taking treatment to underserved communities each week.

Mrs. Tate currently serves as the vice president of the WV Chapter of IntNSA. In October 2019, she was inducted as a Fellow in the International Academy of Addictions Nursing and was also honored to receive the Clinical Care Award from IntNSA.

Mrs. Tate’s interest includes identifying and addressing barriers to effective substance use disorder treatment in addition to educating practitioners and students about substance use disorder and helping them to understand it as a chronic medical problem.
