Pre-Conference Workshop: Shatterproof

Substance use disorder affects every community and presents unique challenges in healthcare settings. Yet addiction stigma, training gaps, and systemic barriers continue to shape how care is delivered. To address this, Shatterproof developed a dynamic new learning experience for healthcare professionals. A Provider’s Pathway to Supporting Patients with Substance Use Disorder offers an in-person educational session designed to change attitudes and beliefs of providers towards their patients who use substances or have SUD. The curriculum combines facilitated instruction, guided discussion, and case-based learning to build a shared foundation around SUD, addiction stigma, and compassionate care. Participants will engage with their peers and facilitators to learn, reflect, and practice new skills that they can apply to their own clinical environments. This approach supports workforce development, strengthens person-centered care, and helps providers translate learning into action across teams and systems.
