This presentation explores how to deliver effective, low-barrier wound care to people who use drugs (PWUD) across street, mobile, and harm reduction settings. We will first examine critical implementation barriers, including systemic stigma, severe resource constraints, and the complex, severe wounds associated with the current illicit drug supply. The session will then shift to actionable solutions, focusing on how wound care nurses can bridge these gaps. Attendees will learn strategies to improve care delivery in traditional settings through trauma-informed approaches, specialized clinical consulting, and harm reduction advocacy that meets individuals exactly where they are

Eleanor Turi, PhD, MSHP, RN, CCRN is a Research Associate at Penn Nursing and Associate Fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute. Her work focuses on improving access to care people who use drugs, advancing nurse workforce policy, and applying implementation science to promote equitable health outcomes.
