Ireland
Following a period of informal consultation between addiction nurses working in Ireland,
the Ireland Chapter of IntNSA was established under the presidency of Peter Kelly in October 2015.
This was the first of IntNSA’s international chapters.

With a variety of educational and networking opportunities,  access to our Journal on Addictions Nursing and discounts on our annual conference, there has never been a better time to join IntNSA.

Our story

In order to launch the chapter formally, our first international conference took place in June 2016, which was attended by the then IntNSA president Dana-Murphy Parker and IntNSA members from the UK and The Netherlands.

This conference was very successful and allowed us to increase our membership to over 50 members, which most importantly included some service users. The development of our chapter has been instrumental in this specialism receiving broader recognition from our professional peers and policy makers in Ireland.

In 2017, our chapter received one of only three ministerial invites to nominate a representative to the national oversight committee for the implementation of our new national drugs strategy. We also have a representative on the national implementation committee for the new strategy and continue to communicate regularly through meetings and workshop events.
