Adrian Thacker is a husband, father and nurse practitioner that lives and works in rural southwest Virginia, an area that has been devastated by the opioid epidemic. He has spent his career as a nurse practitioner working in the Office Based Addiction Treatment (OBAT) setting, where he treats individuals with substance use disorders as well as underlying physical and mental health issues. He is an active member of the International Nurses Society on Addictions (IntNSA) that has been designated as a Fellow of the International Academy of Addictions Nursing (FIAAN). Through his work with IntNSA, he works collaboratively with his peers and partnering organizations to advocate for those who suffer from substance use disorders.
