estimates that over 1.9 million New Yorkers (1.77 million adults and 156,000 youth ages 12-17) have a substance abuse problem. SUDs affect mental health, physical health and have serious psychosocial consequences. With over 430,000 nurses in our region, we can work together to educate each other and improve the health of New Yorkers as they move towards wellness and recovery.

Our story
Welcome to the New York State (NYS) Chapter of the International Nurses Society on Addictions. We are a new chapter established in 2021 by nurses committed to the prevention, treatment and management of substance use and other addictive disorders.
To be inclusive of all nurses in our region, our monthly meetings will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7pm virtually.
The goal of the NYS chapter is to support all nurses in the care of the person with addiction through evidence-based practices along the continuum from prevention to recovery. Our purpose is to promote quality nursing care. Through networking and collaboration, we hope to create a space for nurses who are interested in preventing and managing addictive disorders through enhancing their knowledge and skills.
